Tirumala Navaratri Brahmotsavams begin with Ankurarpanam ritual

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) announced that the Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams run from Oct. 12 to 20, 2026.

The Ankurarpanam ceremony was held on Oct. 11, 2026, in Tirumala.

Senadhipati Sri Vishvaksena led a ceremonial procession along the four Mada Streets to inspect festival arrangements.

Priests performed the Ankurarpanam ritual in the Yagashala following Vaikhanasa Agama traditions.

TTD stated the procedure is detailed in the treatise Samurtarchanadhikaranam by Maharshi Atri.

Sacred seeds were sown in soil-filled mud pots, and tradition holds that healthy sprouting is an auspicious sign for the nine-day festival.

Executive Officer Muddada Ravichandra, Additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, CVSO Muralikrishna, and Temple Deputy EO Bhaskar attended the ceremony.

For pilgrims visiting Tirumala, the annual festival observances are now under way.
